To meet your degree requirements in the applied fitness and sports performance major, you'll need to successfully complete 120 credit hours of courses. You will take courses specific to your major, electives, and general education courses. Once finished, you'll graduate with a B.S. in Kinesiology.
Your first year, you'll participate in a learning community focused on physical education and exercise science. You'll also take a course in the summer at Camp Brosius. Your regular classes will cover topics such as:
- exercise introduction
- general education courses in math and communications
- structural kinesiology and human movement courses
- anatomy
- wellness
- working with people who have special needs
In year two, classes will focus on topics such as:
- lifestyle wellness
- physiology
- psychology
- nutrition
- cardiovascular training
- motor development
During your third year, courses become more focused, involving studies in:
- sports conditioning
- exercise
- fitness testing
- injuries
- kinesiology
- cardiovascular fitness
- sports nutrition
Your fourth year will include an internship, as well as topics like:
- fitness management
- exercise leadership
- program design
- professional practice
