Doctor of occupational therapy program outcomes
The IU Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program is designed to help you succeed as an occupational therapist (OT). After graduation, you will be ready to take the national certifying exam necessary to become a certified OT and have the competencies and skills to practice in the field.
All graduates of the IU OTD program are eligible and expected to take the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification exam. In addition, all states require licensure to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT certification examination. A felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or attain state licensure.
