Biography
Becky Liu-Lastres, Ph.D., is an associate professor in the Department of Tourism, Event, and Sport Management at IU Indianapolis.
The goal of her research is to promote safe travel and ensure the health and well-being of tourists, organizations, and other key stakeholders within the tourism and hospitality industries.
Liu-Lastres has received multiple awards, including conference best papers, the research award from the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education, and the outstanding researcher award from CentralCHRIE.
She holds a bachelor's degree in tourism management from Sun Yat-Sen University, a master's degree in park, recreation, and tourism management from Clemson University, and a doctoral degree in tourism management from the University of Florida.
Her expertise includes risk and crisis communication, tourist safety and security, and the role of social media in tourism. She is dedicated to advancing knowledge and practice in her field, contributing to safer and more resilient tourism practices.
