Biography
Amy M. Johnson is a lecturer in the Department of Tourism, Event, and Sport Management (TESM). She holds an M.A. in geography.
She is an instructor focused on teaching tourism and geography courses in the department. She has ten-plus years of experience in teaching these courses in an online environment. She also oversees the study abroad programs offered through TESM.
Prior to working full time at IU Indianapolis and during the time she was growing her family, Johnson worked as an adjunct instructor for 12 years teaching many of the same classes she does now, in both the live and online classroom environments. She was named outstanding adjunct instructor in 2005.
Johnson spent the early part of her career selling computer software for an Atlanta-based company that develops software to help process and use satellite imagery in a mapping and geographic information system (GIS) environment. She later was a technical sales representative at ERDAS, Inc. for ten years.
